more finished pots

new glaze, different results

This is the new glaze I made, I fired it 2 different ways getting very different results.

Below it is very buttery with a satin finish, and not at all translucent.

Here it is translucent, glossy with a slight green tinge. Very traditional looking.

I love them both, which one do you like best?......

breakfast man!

Breakfast man comes to our house every morning, he's very creative, if a little wasteful!

This is my first commission. These are serving platters for someone who does production work for restaurants. He needed some for an order and didn't have time to make them himself, so asked me to throw some for him. He will fire and glaze them, I just had to throw them. Easy.

lovely new glaze

This is the glaze I made last week. I wanted a fully transparent glossy one, but I love this! Its mat and velvety to touch, just beautiful. It will soften my decoration, but I can live that. So am off to glaze a kiln load of work, every day my work is slowly getting better.

lovely sunday

After a Saturday night with seven teenagers (plus the 8 year old) sleeping over (smelly!), our reward was a Sunday afternoon - child free! Took this opportunity to go to an amazing exhibition - Ricky Swallow - The Bricoleur, at the Ian Potter Center, NVG. He's wooden sculptures are incredible, just beautiful. It's on till 28th of Feb 2010. http://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/rickyswallow/

We also checked out the 2009 Clemenger Contemporary Art Award. My favourite work was also the winner by Ah Xian - Conrete Forest. There is so much to take in, I could have spent hours looking. That exhibition is on till the 7th of Feb 2010. http://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/clemenger2009/
